Urban Assembly School for Careers in Sports
This school was a recipient of a Studio in a School and Time Warner grant. The goal was to incorporate Design into the high school curriculum with a collaboration between technology teacher Geraldine Solano and myself.
Students worked in groups to create original product branding and press kits. They analyzed the components of successful sports marketing campaigns while utilizing the elements principles of design to contribute to their effectiveness.
Sports Career Awareness Campaign: Logo Design
Design Brief: Urban Assembly for Careers in Sports promotes the education of diverse careers in sports. However, when freshman students were asked why they came to this school 95% of the population responded, “to become an athlete.” Clearly the community is not well versed in the wide array of the diverse careers in sports that exist in today’s market. Why is there so little exposure to this market? How can we educate the community about the wonderful opportunities that exist through a future in sports careers?
