For introspection

Dear one, some seasons ask us to look back so we can understand who we are becoming. Find a photograph that matters to you, of yourself, a loved one, or an ancestor. If you don’t have one nearby, a memory will do just as well.

Guided visualization (about 2 minutes)

Hold your photograph, or close your eyes and picture it. Breathe slowly.

Look closely. Notice the light in the image. The expressions. What’s at the edges that you’ve never noticed before.

Now imagine stepping gently into that moment. What do you hear? What is the air like? Who is standing just outside the frame?

If there is a version of you in this memory, look at her with tenderness. What did she not yet know? What was she hoping for?

If this is someone you love, or someone who came before you, let them look back at you. They may have something to say. Listen without rushing.

Now, slowly, turn the photograph over in your mind. On the back is a message written just for you. Let the words appear.

Breathe. Step back into the present, carrying what you received.

On your card, write the message you found on the back of the photograph.

Reflection prompt card

  • What did you notice in the image that you never saw before?
  • What would you tell the person in that photograph now?
  • What thread from this moment still lives in you today?
  • What legacy do you want your own life to leave behind?

Your story is too important to leave unwitnessed. If you’d like to explore it more deeply, perhaps through a healing art piece that honors someone you love, I’d be honored to hold that space with you.
